Voluntary trust services for individuals with problematic gambling in Québec: A three‑phase qualitative study

Objectives

 

  1. Describe the voluntary trust programs offered in Québec for individuals with problematic gambling;
  2. Understand the experiences of individuals with problematic gambling who have used voluntary trust programs, as well as the experiences of practitioners working in organizations that provide voluntary trust services;
  3. Develop action strategies to improve voluntary trust services for individuals with problematic gambling, with the goal of preventing and reducing gambling‑related harms and ultimately contributing to homelessness prevention.

 

Summary of methodology

Phase 1:

An environmental scan will be conducted to describe the voluntary trust programs offered in Québec for individuals with problematic gambling.

Phase 2:

Individual semi‑structured interviews with:

  • Users of voluntary trust services who present problematic gambling (N = 25), and
  • Practitioners working in organizations offering voluntary trust services (N = 25).

Phase 3:

A co‑construction workshop using the TRIAGE method.
